Non-thermal gas plasma is a new and rapidly developing technology that has a great potential to change the face of wound care. Active plasma components, such as ions, electrons and photons have the ability of activating, controlling and catalyzing reactions and complex biochemical procedures. It is well known that cold atmospheric plasmas allow efficient, contact-free and painless treatment without affecting surrounding healthy tissue. In combination with a biopolymer, healing and restructuring of the injured tissue can be easily obtained. The technology is a promising innovation in current development.
